Give Thanks

Wanted to blog a few days ago but didn't have the time to do so. Juz finished chem mock on monday and felt that my physical chem is still very weak. Think have to practice more this 2 weeks.

The farewell assembly marked the last day of my jc school life. No more flag raising and morning assembly in the many years to come. I was feeling quite nostalgic on the last chapel, when we sang our school hymm and other Christian songs, i suddenly remembered this song that particularly gave me strength. It goes like this " ....give thanks because its given, Jesus Christ his son. and now let the poor say i am rich, let the weak say i am strong, beacause of what the lord has done for us, give thanks."I am not a Christian but i like the lyrics of this song, really meaningful.

My strength alone might be weak and my family may not be wealthy but these are all tangible stuff. What matters most is that i am mentally strong, and i am rich in my thinking. Income inequality and unfairness in society is always around, these are words to comfort yourselves and be glad that you have something stronger.

About the phrase 'GIVE THANKS", i think Singaporeans particularly lack in this. As science and technology develops, ppl get more and more oblivious about their surroundings and ppl become more distant. In this kind of society, i find it hard to hear ppl sincerely saying thank you. Few days ago went library with Sin yi and Oj, then there was this middle-aged lady who sat beside me. She was really polite and when she asked me to take care of her things , she smiled really brilliantly and when she came back, she bowed and said thank you very much while smiling. She wasn't being overly friendly but this elegant lady was being grateful for the the small things in her life. She made me felt as if i had done something wonderful for her. When i left the place, she commented that she found my chem notes quite profound and asked me which school I was from. When i said St. Andrews, she said its wonderful and gave me words of encouragement. It made me so proud of my school and i felt happy the rest of the day.

It doesn't hurt to say thank you. Do this today, start with your parents, they deserve it
