Went for FF Concert!

Went for the Final Fantasy Concert at Esplanade on Saturday Evening. Got the early bird tickets at the price of $45 and sat with my Sister, Brother-In-Law. My brother and his friends also went but they were sitting at the more expensive seat which I think there was no need because its a orchestra concert, so you mainly go there to hear and not to see. But anyway, I got a good seat at circle 1, directly facing the conductor and screen.

I felt rather bad about it when my brother-in-law told me the tickets were sold out and its selling on E-Bay at $450. Why? Because, I wasn't really a hard-core FF gamer and most of the time I only watch my siblings play. So by taking up the seat, I was depriving another person, with higher consumer surplus of that seat. At first I just bought the ticket thinking it was a chance for me to go for something special this holidays with my siblings. I went in the hall, praying hard that I will not fall asleep because I never sit through any orchestra concert at Esplanade. End up, I was totally blown off at the end of the concert!

Felt so 'high' after being influence by the many FF fans in the concert hall and I ended up shouting Encore together with them. Whats more, its not just an Orchestra only concert, they have the screen showing you scenes from FF and also the vocalist and Choir.(See Pic Below)

I super love the opening song 'Liberi Fatali' and 'Love Grows' (Instrumental version of 'Eyes on Me' ) from FFVIII as well as FFVI's 'Maria and Draco' and the 'Swing de Chocobo' ( New Version of the Chocobo Theme). This is like almost half of the pieces in this concert :) My sister was also really enthusiastic during the concert, shouting, standing and clapping very hard. Then when the FF song Composer Nobuo Uematsu Sensei came out, the fans were shouting and cheering as if he was a great super star! And indeed he is, his autograph queue after the concert was super long and my family couldn't get it. My brother was rather disappointing at not being able to get a picture with him tonight.

Tonight, other than witnessing how wild the gamers can be about video game music, it also brought back some memories. I remember 'watching' all the FF series when I was young ( In primary school). Yup, those were the days, you are so free and got nothing much to do. SO you end up watching your siblings play games. We even use the FFVI battle scene music and dungeon music for Brother vs Me LEGO battle (Using lego people to act like villians and main character and using dice to determine the damage on each side). We were still using my sister's tape then.

Conclusion: I wouldn't have sold my ticket to anyone even if your consumer surplus is higher :P
Luv It! I am going to listen to the FFI-XII soundtrack this week.
