Just came back from my 2D1N Kukup trip in Malaysia yesterday :)
Had really great fun with BOP people mahjong-ing, charade-ing and eating seafood. Had a rather memorable experience playing mahjong in complete darkness. lol. They had a blackout at night on the first day and all lights and fans went off. The aunties staying downstairs were playing 'candlelight' mahjong while we used light from touch and phone. Though it was really warm and difficult to see, its an whole new experience for me to play in darkness and I actually thought it was rather fun. In Singapore, we are too used to our comfortable life and electricity trip is rare. From this I am able to understand the hardship and conditions of people living in less developed areas compared to Singapore and appreciate what we have now. Basic needs like water, light shouldn't be taken for granted.

The highlight of the trip i suppose was the fireworks show. Its my first time lighting the fireworks myself and actually getting to see the firecrackers at a very close distance. The happiest thing was the release of our very own Kong Ming Deng (孔明灯）and making wishes at the same time :)The greedy me made 3 wishes altogether.

Other than the above, there were a few things that i tried out for the first time:
1) Sitting on a Motorbike
2) Going to a Kelong
3) Learning how to play 'Man Luck'
4) Winning 2RM at Mahjong
5) Not sleeping for more than 36 hours

One sad thing that I saw there was how the people degrade the environment there by throwing all the rubbish into the sea to avoid taxes. I guess this is what they mean when we learn in environment economics that as people's standard of living improves, the quality of the environment improves too. Its disheartening to see children doing the same too. Education makes a difference! I suppose using Economics to change the law will help too. It will be good if we can use what we learn to help make a difference to the world.


后记：
在回家的路上，下起了绵绵细雨。当大家都在车上睡着时，我一个人望着窗外，唱起了关于雨的歌曲，慢慢享受着大家都在身旁的最后一段路。回新加坡后，做工的，毕业的，忙碌的，可能不会来BOP了。其实第二天下午就开始有些 emo, 在大家开心打着麻将时，我一个人坐在天台的椅子上，看着天色的变换。喜聚不喜散是我的个性，所以我会想尽办法 delay 这一切。感谢BOP的大家和我一起度过美好的KUKUP之旅，它会成为我美好的回忆。
