Went Kite Flying with my secondary school clique last week. Spontaneous suggestion by ah ma but end up with have full attendance that day :) My first time flying my own kite was a failed attempt and in the end I let my 'uncle pravin' and 'daddy gary' fly it for me instead. With lots of patience and determination, they managed to fly it up in the sky~~



From a kite flying experience, you are actually better to determine your own character. The reason I wasn't able to fly a kite was because when I held the kite in my hands, I was afraid to let it fly further and higher. To let it leave my sight felt like a scary thing when you hold the kite in your hands. I didn't want to take any chances. When the day was bright and wind was strong, I fear that the kite might be blown away, of losing it right before my eyes. Just when I pluck up the courage to try flying it again in the late evening, there wasn't anymore wind, the peak period of flying the kite was over. No matter how hard I tried to run, to jump, it could only start afloat for a short while. In the end, with persuasion from 'aunt yf', KT and 'uncle pravin', I decided to run all the way back to where the rest were and tried to keep the kite flying up for as long as I could. After the kite fulfilled its last purpose, it crippled and broke in the end. There is definitely a life lesson that i have learn behind this kite flying experience.



The kite flying experience actually made me recall a song that used to be in my Top 25 songs in IPod. Not Stefanie Sun's <<風箏>> but a HK singer, 張敬軒's popular Cantonese song <<追風箏的孩子>>. Went back to look at the song lyrics in detailed and found the lyrics rather 耐人寻味.

To understand the meaning behind this song, we must understand the most repeated line in the song '风筝飞不出叹息桥'. Many people may not know what is '叹息桥' it actually the BRIDGE OF SIGHS in Venice. The picture below of the bridge was taken when I went Venice some years back.



There is actually a local legend that says that lovers will be granted everlasting love and bliss if they kiss on a gondola at sunset under this particular bridge. However in actual fact, the bridge actually got its name because it used to be the last view of Venice that convicts saw before their imprisonment. Hence, the bridge name, given by Lord Byron in the 19th century, comes from the suggestion that prisoners would sigh at their final view of beautiful Venice out the window before being taken down to their cells. Back to the lyrics of the song, I would think the '叹息桥' in the song would mean everlasting love rather than the latter meaning. So i suppose if the 风筝飞不出叹息桥, it just means that 歌中的恋人无法相爱到永远. But by writing it in this way will be too direct, hence adding the KITE and the BRIDGE of Sighs in Venice in this song, has made the song more imagery, 更有画面感和想象空间.

Some of the other lines like '开开心心影张爱的遗照', '开开心心一起向它凭吊' would probably refer more to the real facts in the history of Venice. When I was there, my parents actually didn't want to take photos with this bridge because of the association with the death convicts. 拍遗照, 凭吊 都是不好的事，怎么会开开心心呢？这桥及代表爱情也代表死亡，那用它在这首歌中，代表童话般信仰的爱情在这里死去，贴切不过。

1) '你的风筝飘过篱笆 扑向短促艳每落霞': 夕阳无限好，但特别短暂，但风筝还是选择飞向他。有种飞蛾扑火的精神，特别感人。

2)'毕竟当初分享过你欢笑 将记忆燃烧':燃烧需要好多力量。如果记忆能给予的力量，足够燃烧，就足以见得感情的强烈。

3)'总可迫使我锻炼勇敢':勇敢也可锻炼，第一次看到有词那么写，好喜欢这样的说法.

4)'即使心一死都要有心跳 一下不能少':活着如果心死了，还有何意思？怎样都还想要感受心跳的每一瞬间。

5)'很多东西毕竟控制不了失散于繁嚣': 这句写得很浅白，但很贴切城市人的心理。在纷纷扰扰的生活中，我们就这样失去很多事情。 或许是城市人拥有太多，顾虑太多。控制不了只是一个安慰自己为何没有抓住一些遗憾的借口。
